Appleby Engineering Limited is a privately owned New Zealand company, established in 1975, with many years experience in the power generation and stationary diesel engine markets in New Zealand and elsewhere. The company has evolved over the years from its base as a service provider to the diesel engine generator market, to its current position as a leading supplier of generator sets and generator set control panels.
Founded by John Appleby, after obtaining considerable experience
in his sojourn to the United States where he was employed by Detroit
Diesel Corporation and involved in a number of power engineering
projects. His return to New Zealand heralded the start of Appleby
Engineering Limited and, after earning the respect of one of the
world’s foremost power engineering companies, an association with
the GMI-Pramac group of Europe. This association enables
Appleby Engineering to access a wide product range involving leading
manufacturers such as Deutz, Volvo, MTU, Perkins, Lombardini, Mecc
Alte and Newage Stamford. Special build control and instrumentation
is mainly sourced from Deep Sea Electronics.
The company has created a point of difference over its competitors by specialising in ‘turnkey’ type projects where an engineered solution is provided encompassing mechanical, electrical and acoustical engineering. This ‘specialisation’ involves a wide, versatile range of gensets from 6kVA to 2500kVA able to satisfy all applications and requirements.
